The Democratic Party is quickly becoming the party of
decision-making. And by this I mean... feeling so inclined as to make
decisions on behalf of American citizens.
If you remember, Democratic presidential nominee hopeful John Edwards recently proposed mandatory health monitoring.
In the latest chapter of this chilling story, Democratic lawmakers are now proposing to regulate how many private fast food restaurants exist in a given area.
Amid
worries of an obesity epidemic and its related illnesses, including
high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease, Los Angeles officials,
among others around the country, are proposing to limit new fast-food
restaurants -- a tactic that could be called health zoning.
I
believe the term "totalitarianism" derives from the idea of a state
which regulates nearly every aspect of public and private behavior. I'm
just saying...
Conservatives understand this should be a question of personal responsibility, not government regulation.
